Love. The street. Art.
Love. The street. Art.
ArtOnline24.com by Askeri Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of Chris Riggs in Russia " Love. Street. Art.". The professional artist from New York became interested in street art, which brought him international fame. He made his first signature graffiti "peace and love” ten years ago, and since then, the murals of this series have appeared in France, Italy, Greece, South Korea, great Britain and Russia (2015). Riggs’ bright abstract images combine the archaic graphics of cave painting, the brightness of street art, the symbols of modernity in pop art style and the idea of social art. Being a staunch pacifist, the artist is investing a socially significant message in almost every pattern or mural.
The works of Riggs are well known not only by residents of the largest cities across Europe and America, but in Moscow. Over the last few years, the artist has adorned "Red October", Sokolniki Park and the walls of the several enterprises of the Moscow area with his works.
Like many street art artists, Chris Riggs has been cooperating with many galleries all over the world exhibiting his paintings, preserving the style and spirit of the artist’s murals. His work is represented in the Saatchi gallery and many others. In Askeri Gallery (Moscow), the artist will show works, which has already been exhibited previously in the US, and several new paintings created exclusively for the Moscow show.
Chris Riggs promotes his art in various fields and forms. In 2017 he gave a lecture at TedX conference about how to become a successful artist. He has created a joint line of lacquers and decoration for nail with a famous designer Jin Soon (Jin soon), designed showcases in the oldest new York Department store - Bloomingdale's. Riggs’ works are in the collections of many famous people such as Steve Madden, Carolyn Murphy, Adriana Lima, Jennifer Lopez, Glenn Metlock and other collectors of modern art.
Before opening, Chris Riggs shared his feelings: "I am happy to present my first solo exhibition in Russia and to show my abstract street art works. I read about your country in my childhood and was fascinated by it. We all are people from one planet, and I welcome the opportunity to contribute to peace between two our countries. This is my fifth trip to Russia. I would like to organize in Moscow the Studio and make some big works in the future."
