Have you ever thought about how deep a human being associates himself with a butterfly? A little-winged piece of beauty a butterfly symbolises the Life itself for most of us. From caterpillar to cocoon from cocoon to a butterfly. A magical and real evolution of a human in miniature. Physical and mental. Soul and body.
I found a base for my thoughts in 17th-century Holland artists Still Life works I rethink established imagery of a butterfly and other God’s beings. I am moving away from Christian symbolism and adopting a more humanistic approach to this theme. In my works I see butterflies on the same level as humans. Each one of them is a real person to me with its own character. Chimaeras with butterfly wings symbolise the ability to evolve and mimicry.
